Welcome to the official UNCOVERED Blog, a companion site to Orchestra Nashville’s exciting online projects powered by ArtistShare. Through the Orchestra Nashville UNCOVERED projects, fans worldwide can get an intimate look inside one of America's most innovative orchestras as it develops and stages its season and special recording projects. Through video, audio, documents and slideshows, our Uncovered projects give music lovers a chance to see so much more than the final performance (though we want you to see that too). It's a new kind of patronage, a new kind of record label, a new kind of documentary.
Think of it as purchasing a CD before the CD gets made, then getting DVD extras in real time during the making of the album. At the end, there will be CDs (or downloads, whichever you choose) that you will be primed to appreciate. These projects will put you inside the action as Orchestra Nashville works through the trials and issues of a putting on a year's worth of concerts and creating their recordings with special guest artists.
UNCOVERED is powered by ArtistShare, a company dedicated to supporting artistry through a new kind of relationship with fans. In the ArtistShare model, fans pay a one-time up-front fee for a year of constantly updated and fresh content from inside the artist's work life. Participants in Orchestra Nashville's UNCOVERED projects will get regular e-mail updates with links to hot new content. It might be streaming audio that lets you sit along side a composer half way through the writing of a commissioned piece, then video of that work’s first rehearsal and its premiere, so you can experience how it was brought to life. It might be a close-up profile of an orchestra member or guest soloist that takes you behind the scenes and inside the private side of their creative process. Through streaming video, audio journals, photo galleries and more, you’ll have an insider’s perspective as the season and special recording projects unfold.
This is truly a new adventure, and we’re not sure where it’s going to lead us or what the ups and downs might be along the way. This blog will offer news about new content and items of interest to Orchestra Nashville fan base. Here, UNCOVERED subscribers and newcomers can build community and discuss anything and everything about music, art and life.
We look forward to bringing the journey to you and hope you will come along.

Well,
I always appreciate the level of artistry with which David Balakrishnan comes to the NCO table (as well as his appetite for working with us). This program contains a new work by David which demonstrates flashing strokes of his genius in my mind.
The piece is filled with every kind of musical influence I have ever heard, yet it flows like a raging river whose occasional calm is only an opportunity for strength and character building. What a ride!!
Last night (Wednesday) in rehearsal the orchestra was so overcome with the details of this piece that by 9:20 p.m. all of us had burned our minds out. All who were there knew this rehearsal was to continue until 9:30. Then, with our minds still smoldering, a rare moment occured, perhaps one of a kind we'll never see again. There was a pause, there was silence...
we were dismissed early.
