Another one in the books, and a good one

Okay, some of you aren’t going to believe me because now I “work” for the NCO and all, but the concert I just saw was as good as anything I’ve seen all year, half a day at Bonnaroo included. Not only was this in a really sweet acoustic super-hall with a comfortable chair and not on a hot dusty farm, the performance had bounce, joy, love, groove, warmth, beauty, exotica and genuine, honest-to-god surprises. The Gypsy theme worked all the way around. It was a triumph of programming. Piece flowed into piece like an evolving conversation, and there was plenty of time to relax into some luxurious themes. There were just outstanding individual performances going on inside this big ensemble sound. It was complex, but you could grasp it. Absolutely, one hundred percent musical. The SSC was near full and this felt like a good-time-had-by-all scene as far as I could tell. And the cimbalom got there.

More in the morning. Recording session starts at ten. And they have to rehearse and play a concert tomorrow with Bernadette Peters. No big deal.

Bravo, thankfully someone could put the NCO's Gypsy Night into words, all I could do is feel it. The NCO is such as gem with their unique ability to blend technical excellence with spirited artistic exploration!

Last night's performance was incredible!
